1. What Clovis Residents Directory Is
Clovis Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections related to Clovis, Fresno County, and California. It has no affiliation with the City of Clovis, Fresno County, a court, library, state agency, or records custodian. It hosts no government roll, case file, deed, or vital certificate. The About page explains the scope in plain language.
2. Permitted and Prohibited Use
Use the reference only for lawful, personal, civic, family-history, or research purposes. You may not use it or anything reached through it to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person.
- Locate someone who is protected by a restraining or protective order.
- Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another crime.
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions involving credit, employment, tenant, or insurance eligibility.
- Scrape, copy, or republish the pages at scale without permission.
- Interfere with site operation, security, or outside record systems.
3. No Consumer Reporting Agency
This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search provider, is a consumer report. The information may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.
4. Outside Links and Services
Pages may link to the Fresno Recorder, Assessor, courts, elections, libraries, California privacy programs, and sponsored search tools. Those destinations have their own rules, prices, availability, and data practices. Clovis Residents Directory does not control or adopt their content, and using an outside portal is at the visitor's discretion.
5. No Warranty
The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that a page, fee, URL, coverage year, record description, map layer, or outside portal is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or free of errors. The Fresno Assessor's 2025 access change and other custodian updates show why a reader must verify with the office.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from the reference, a linked resource, a search submission, or a decision made from a record reached through it. This includes outages, errors, stale information, and a custodian's changed access route.
7. Your Responsibility to Protect Us
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators from claims, demands, losses, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from misuse of the reference, violation of these terms, unlawful use of personal information, or infringement of another person's rights.
8. Copyright and Site Materials
The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the operators or their licensors. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution is welcome. Full-page republication, systematic copying, automated extraction, or reuse of the layout is not permitted without written consent. Government and library materials remain subject to their own rights and rules.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise the terms by posting an updated version. The revised wording controls from publication. Continued use after the change indicates acceptance of the new terms.
10. Restricting Access
We may block or limit access when a visitor violates these terms, abuses a search tool, threatens a person, attempts to scrape content, or creates a security risk. The restriction may occur without advance notice and does not limit any other remedy available to the operators.
11. California Law and Records Rules
California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 and following, describes access to identifiable state and local records, but it does not require a custodian to create a resident list or override exemptions. California privacy law, including the Consumer Privacy Act and its amendments, governs covered personal-data rights subject to its own exceptions.
12. Severability
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed only as needed. The remaining terms continue in effect.
13. Questions About These Terms
Questions about these terms can be sent through the Contact page. Questions about a Fresno deed, assessment roll, court file, vital copy, voter product, or Clovis city record should go to the custodian office named on the relevant page.
